Coronado Historic Museum

Very honored that my SS Monte Carlo photos were accepted into the Coronado Historic Museum last year. Today, I find out that they will not only be displayed, but the historic museum is now designating a space for my photography. My display will be up at the end of May 2018. Check out https://coronadohistory.org for more information.

SSMonteCarlo_Final_2048.jpg

80 yr old SS Monte Carlo comes back to life after 80 years off of Coronado Beach, CA. The SS Monte Carlo was a concrete ship launched in 1921 as the oil tanker SS McKittrick. In 1936 she became a gambling and prostitution ship operating in international waters off the coast of Coronado, California.

I was able to be the first to document this hidden gem from above as it resurfaced in San Diego a couple years ago. The shipwreck sits on the shoreline of Coronado Beach California. The ship was launched in 1921 and due to storms in 1937, the ships anchor lost its hold and drifted on the beach.

There’s believed to still be treasure remaining in wreckage. The ship is normally buried below the sand but the recent El Niño storms have now exposed the top layer. Seeing this in person and from above feels surreal and something out of a movie.

Rugged and Minimalist Rugged case: http://amzn.to/2FBDIOU
Minimalist case: http://amzn.to/2FLrBlo

PolarPro is best known for their high quality filters. They also make a lot of accessories for your drones like mounts, arm extensions and cases. In this video, I review their latest cases for the DJI Mavic Air. The first case is the 'Rugged' case which is designed to carry all your Mavic Air fly more combo accessories. This is a soft case that protects your drone from the elements while providing lots of foam padding for protection. The second case is called the 'Minimalist' case. This one is a smaller version carry meant to toss into a backpack. This case holds all your gear in a smaller compact case during transit.

This drone created lots of Buzz during CES 2018. The TELLO drone is a Ryze Robotics product but because of Ryze's partnership with DJI, lots of people thought it was a DJI drone. If you haven't seen my interview at CES with Ryze, make sure you check it out. The Tello is an impressive little toy drone that packs a huge punch of tech. This little drone has an Intel Processor and DJI Flight Technology. The electronic image stabilized camera shoots 720p video and 5mp photo still jpeg. It has multiple flight modes, VR capable and can be programmed through Scratch software. In this video I unbox the new drone and go through the basic setup of the Tello. I'll be making another video with video samples and flight modes demos.

Tablet Holder for the DJI Spark, Mavic Pro and Mavic Air by PGYTECH

Tablet Holder for the DJI Spark, Mavic Pro and Mavic Air by PGYTECH PGYTECH Pad Holder: http://amzn.to/2oFgAsj

In this video I talk about some of the things I liked and some concerns I had about the mount. I've been looking for tablet mounts to review so I was excited to check out this mount by PGYTECH. I finally got a bunch of PGYTECH accessories to review and this mount was one of the first ones I wanted to test. I've been using the MavMount for a while now and was pleased to see this compact style tablet mount. The PGYTECH folds up and makes it easy to transport. Overall I was really impressed with the size, build and portability of it.

DJI Mavic Air is now here!!!

DJI announced a new drone this morning and in DJI fashion, blows everyone away with yet another groundbreaking drone for the masses. I say for the masses because this drone has all the capabilities of the Mavic Pro, but in a compact size of the Spark. They basically merged the two drones together and created an amazing looking drone that looks like it should have a Tesla or BMW logo on it. The new sleek design, fold out arms and compact size os the air gives you no more excuses to not have one of these in your bag. I'm not going to go into to much details about all the features in this write up, but I will talk about some things I like and some things I will need to see once I get one.

Screen Shot 2018-01-23 at 9.59.46 AM.png

Because I already own the Mavic Pro and Spark, where does the Air fit in my bag and does it replace the Mavic Pro? The Mavic Pro is an all around beast of a drone and I feel will still be in my bag until I get used to trusting two major things in my opinion. Those two things are the ability to withstand wind (how does the gimbal hold up in high winds) and distance with wifi compared to radio.

Screen Shot 2018-01-23 at 10.53.03 AM.png
Screen Shot 2018-01-23 at 10.00.19 AM.png

The one thing I hated about the Spark with the wifi signal. DJI said they now have a new enhanced wifi to give the Mavic Air a flight distance of over two miles. I never really fly that far anyways, but it will take some time to trust wifi signal at a far distance.

Screen Shot 2018-01-23 at 10.09.55 AM.png

I'm not going to get into to much details about gesture controls because I never use them. It's good to know that it has been enhanced and is a lot more responsive and now offers the user more control over distance of drone.

Screen Shot 2018-01-23 at 10.32.05 AM.png

Because I already own the Spark and Mavic Pro, I get excited about the other little things that didn't get much air time during the announcement. The fact you can remove the sticks is a huge deal. For some it may be a small thing, but anytime you can slim down your carry is a big deal.

Screen-Shot-2018-01-23-at-10.31.31-AM.jpg

Another feature I really liked is the 1080p at 120fps. This of course will only be good during nice bright days as the faster shutter will struggle significantly in low light because of the small sensor size. But to have 120fps to slow down action will be really nice and dramatic.

Screen Shot 2018-01-23 at 10.00.08 AM.png

So who is this for? I feel like if you already have a Mavic Pro, this might be one you can pass on (maybe wait for the Mavic 2) and not feel to left out of the cool crowd. But if you have a Spark or don't have a drone, this is a huge upgrade and is a perfect drone for everyone. This is where DJI wants to position this drone. This is the drone that doesn't have any major weak points and is small enough to carry around with you daily.

PGYTECH Hard Case for the DJI Spark

PGYTECH Hard Case for the DJI Spark

To purchase or view more info: http://amzn.to/2zU3SZm

I've reviewed a bunch of cases for the DJI Spark in the past and this is definitely one high quality case. They paid a lot of attention to the details of the case and created a very secure, easy to use case that holds all of your DJI Spark fly more combo accessories. This case does come with a higher price tag which may put off some people, but there's for sure quality behind that price. Also, this case is made to hold all of the fly more accessories so know that this is a larger case. If you want something small and compact to transport your DJI Spark, check out some of my other case videos on the channel.

2018 New Office for the New Year

2018 New Office for the New Year

2017 was such an amazing year for the Flytpath community. With zero expectations, we've taken this channel from 1000 to 30,000 subscribers in less than 9 months. I read all comments, good and bad and try to reply back to each and every one of you. Your feedback keeps me motivated to produce more and more content. I appreciate all the companies that I've been able to work with and all the good vibes you all send me when you find some value in my videos.

I'm super excited to finally have an office again dedicated to my passion for design and technology. I hope to create a more consistent environment to produce higher quality tutorials, reviews, unboxing, tips and more. I also plan on doing Live streams and podcasts in 2018 so I can connect with you all live for some question and answer sessions. I couldn't have done this without you and I'm so thankful for your continuous support.

I wish you all a safe and Happy New Year!!!! 2018 will be bigger and badder than ever and I'm excited to take you along with me on this journey.

DJI Mavic Pro Remote Control - Tips and Settings I Use

DJI Mavic Pro Remote Control - Tips and Settings I Use ► In this video, I talk about the DJI Mavic Pro remote control antenna and custom button settings. Not many people talk about the remote control, so I wanted to do a video about some of the custom settings I use on the remote and also about some use cases. Also, after watching numerous videos, it seems like a lot of flyers have their antennas positioned in a way that's not optimal for good transmission and reception. These tips work on the DJI Mavic Pro, Mavic Pro Platinum and Mavic Pro Alpine White. ----------------------------------------------------- ▼LIST OF GEAR USED BELOW: Video shot on: http://amzn.to/2nGYg2X Bendy Tripod: http://amzn.to/2eM5cZC DJI Mavic Pro Alpine White Combo: https://goo.gl/Gnz6Lx DJI Mavic Pro Platinum: https://goo.gl/fDNx1U DJI Mavic Pro Drone: https://goo.gl/fq1bVN Backpack I use: http://amzn.to/2uB9kST Freewell DJI Mavic Compact Rugged Waterproof Hard Case (Blue): http://amzn.to/2wGBZns PolarPro DJI Mavic 6-Pack Cinema: http://amzn.to/2oSSKq5 Audio Digital Recorder: http://amzn.to/2ydmXs7 Microphone: http://amzn.to/2oCAamj Apple iPad Air 2: http://amzn.to/2sSYJhn Tablet holder: http://www.mavmount.com (Use promo code flytpath) ▼VIEW REVIEWED PRODUCTS ON ONE PAGE: https://www.amazon.com/shop/flytpath
